Year 6 Assault Course & BBQ - Summerhill Academy

Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: Year 6 end of year celebration

We are pleased to announce that a variety of activities have been secured for Y6 children in Term 6, in order for them to celebrate their final few weeks at Summerhill Academy.

Assault course

On Monday 5 July, we have booked the company ‘WiseUp Team Building’ to come into school to run a fun and educational enrichment session. The company will set up an assault course on the school field (weather permitting), which is designed to encourage students to work together as part of a cohesive unit alongside individual problem-solving. We will be spending the session outdoors on the school field and we ask that your child is clothed appropriately for doing activities where they may get dirty and for the weather conditions. Please check the weather forecast and ensure your child has warm clothing and waterproofs if wet and windy weather is predicted, as well as additional layers they could add on or change into. If sunshine is forecast, please ensure your child has sun screen, a hat and a large, full water bottle. Sturdy footwear such as trainers or boots must be worn; please no sandals, flip flops or crocs. Children will remain in class bubbles for the sessions.

The cost per child is £15, which we are requesting is paid via Scopay no later than Thursday 1 July.

Y6 BBQ

Friends of Summerhill Academy have kindly and generously agreed to fund a BBQ event for Y6 children on Thursday 15 July at 4pm – 5:30pm.

Children will need to enter the school field from the bottom gates at staggered times:

Violet 4.00pm

Indigo 4:05pm

Purple 4:10pm

Please use the Microsoft Forms link to provide permission for your child to walk home from the BBQ. Due to the timings, children will not be permitted to walk home alone if we have not received permission for this particular event.

Children will depart at staggered times:

Violet 5:20pm

Indigo 5:25pm

Purple 5:30pm

T-shirt signing

Children will be allowed to bring in a spare plain white T-shirt on Monday 19 July with fabric pens (felt tips will be provided in school) to be signed by other members of their class.
