Summerhill pupils unite to show racism the red card

Children at Summerhill Academy came together for a special assembly to support the Show Racism the Red Card campaign, demonstrating their commitment to standing against racism and promoting a school community where everyone feels valued, respected and included.
The assembly provided an opportunity for pupils to reflect on the importance of challenging racism, celebrating diversity and treating others with kindness and fairness. Through coming together, the children showed that everyone has a role to play in creating a world free from discrimination.
The initiative reinforced the message that racism should never be ignored or accepted, and that even small actions, such as speaking up, showing kindness and supporting others, can make a meaningful difference.
A spokesperson for Summerhill Academy said: “We are incredibly proud of our children for coming together to stand against racism.
“At Summerhill, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, respected and included, regardless of their background or identity. This assembly was a powerful reminder that we all have a responsibility to challenge racism, celebrate our differences and treat one another with kindness. Together, we can help create a brighter, fairer future for everyone.”
The message from the assembly was clear, racism has no place at Summerhill Academy. By standing together, pupils and staff are helping to build a community where everyone belongs.
