Personal Development and Wellbeing
At Summerhill Academy, all pupils access a range of experiences that foster status, belonging and esteem, which support a sustained impact on pupils’ development, well-being and aspirations. Rich and inclusive wider opportunities nurture the whole child, regardless of background or ability.
Our personal development offer is a vital and well-integrated part of our curriculum, helping pupils to discover their passions, develop resilience, and build the confidence to succeed in life beyond school. All children have access to a wide range of enrichment activities, educational visits, partnerships with local organisations and clubs designed to support their interests and development.
Activities and opportunities are woven throughout the curriculum and are selected to ensure they are enriching, accessible, and relevant to our pupils’ interests. It is designed to develop a strong sense of belonging, raise aspirations, broaden horizons, and prepare pupils for the next stages of their education and life.
Pupil Voice
Through our Pupil Voice Groups (Eco Committee, Safeguarding Champions, EDI Action Team, Pupil Council and Sports Leaders) children are encouraged to take on leadership roles across the school and have a demonstratable impact on the success of our school community.

Summerhill in our Community
During their time at Summerhill, all children have the opportunity to represent the school in a wide range of activities. Children engage in these opportunities within the wider community with pride and confidence, fostering a sense of pride and responsibility.
